NEXT STEPS

NEW FACULTY MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES

It is well documented that appropriate mentoring and support can significantly shorten the professional learning curve. The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success Faculty (CAFS) Mentoring Programs provide robust support for new faculty as they begin their professional journeys at UNC Charlotte, and advance in their academic careers. The mentoring initiatives provided by CAFS include:

  • New Faculty Mentoring (One – on-One Mentoring) where you sign up individually (or in a group of 2 or 3 other new faculty) to be intentionally paired with a single mentor.
  • New Faculty Mentoring Circles (Group Mentoring) where larger groups of newer faculty get together for facilitated peer mentorIng sessions, which provide opportunities to build support networks with other new faculty and faculty at different ranks at UNC Charlotte.

New Faculty Mentoring Circles

These sessions, which we offer in addition to, not instead of the Individual Mentoring Program, will provide information related to topics of interest to newer faculty at UNC Charlotte. They are designed to provide opportunities to build support networks with other new faculty and faculty at different ranks at UNC Charlotte.
This programming will kick off with a Workshop, So You Just Got a Mentor – Now What? Lisa Merriweather, Professor of Adult Education, will facilitate discussions around how to be an effective mentee. Time and Location TBD
