“Charting your Path: Strategies for Success for Mid-Career Faculty and Their Administrators 2014” – a Huge Success!
UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office, in collaboration with the NC State Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity, Office of Faculty Affairs, and the College of Education hosted the 2014 “CHARTING YOUR PATH WORKSHOP Strategies for Success for Mid-Career Faculty with particular emphasis on approaches for Women and Under-Represented Minority Faculty” at NC State on May 12th, 2014. Mid Career faculty learned strategies for planning their career path to full professor, while administrators gained insights into how to facilitate mid-career faculty success. Over 60 mid-career faculty and adminstrators from a number of different institutions around the State attended. Based on the positive comments by attendees after the workshop, we are confident that the workshop made a positive impact on both faculty who are considering promotion to full professor and the administrators who are in a position to facilitate such promotions.
Presentations:
Plenary Lecture: “Understanding the Terrain of the Mid-Career Faculty Experience: Implications for Faculty and Administrators.” Dr. Deborah DeZure, Assistant Provost for Faculty and Organizational Development, Michigan State University.
